Simon Wald-Lasowski (Paris, 1980) is a freelance photographer and art director.
He lives in Amsterdam and graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2004. Occasionally he also works as a Wedding MC.

Komkommertijd, ("cucumber time" in Dutch) is the "silly season" in the summer, typified by the emergence of frivolous news stories in the media.
The headline "Thumbs up..." was inspired by my image, but on the other end, the sentence "... sea cucumbers. Is it nature's vacuum cleaner..." inspired the weird creature. I find that translating sentences literally into images often make quite absurd results.
